The UK Cities Seeing the Biggest Growth in House Prices
2018-08-07The North West property market is strong, the Midlands isn’t far behind, and London is beginning to bounce back, according to latest figures from Hometrack.
Cities in the North West and Midlands are seeing the strongest house price growth, new data from Hometrack reveals.
Manchester (7.4%), Liverpool (7.2%), Birmingham (6.8%) and Leicester (6.5%) saw the biggest year-on-year lift in prices last month with the average property in Manchester now selling for £166,100.
The level of discounting from the asking price to achieve a sale is also low in Manchester (2.2%) where market conditions have remained strong for the past two years.
In the three months to June, house prices in London rose by 1.8%, having fallen by 1% over the previous six months.
The average property now costs £494,800, making London by far the most expensive city ahead of Cambridge (£439,600) and Oxford (£427,000).
